Some of the financial techniques on this blog can be dense for a general reader. If you want the fuller picture, start with my book, Structuring Money (구조로 돈을 설계하는 사람들) — available on Korea's major ebook platforms.
Why I Stopped Reading Finance as Numbers —
and Started Reading It as Structure
"Finance isn't emotion. It's structure."
That sentence is the first thing that came to mind. By the time it did, I had already spent years reading financial statements, IR pitch decks, and investment proposals by the thousand. But until that moment, I was only looking at the numbers — never at the path those numbers actually traveled. The moment I understood that in my gut, I started studying finance all over again.
Numbers trigger emotion. Structure builds trust.
We're all wired to react to numbers — yield, interest rate, expected return, P/E, IRR. So most people chase high returns and never notice the high risk riding along with them. But the real difference is this: a genuine finance professional looks at the structure before the number. I know, because the day I felt that difference in my own body was the day I went back to school on finance.
Structure is flow. And flow is completed by recovery.
Return is a possibility. Recovery is a reality. PF (Project Finance), RCPS, STO, SPC — none of these are simple financial products. They are the structural expression of a flow: capital coming in, staying to work, and being recovered on its way back out.
This book — Structuring Money (『구조로 돈을 설계하는 사람들』) — is about exactly that: the craft of designing the flow of capital.
The Nusantara Project — Building a City as Structure
Inside the book sits one enormous simulation: Indonesia's new-capital project, Project Nusantara. It isn't treated as urban planning. It's staged as a full "capital experiment city," complete with —
| Layer | What's designed |
|---|---|
| Collateral | A PF structure secured against rare-earth reserves |
| Issuance | RCPS-based STO design |
| Vehicle | An SPC triangular structure |
| Platform | A recovery-scenario-based financing platform |
Finance isn't a product. It's a flow.
And flow is designed as structure.
Who Is This Book For?
| Reader | Why this book |
|---|---|
| Beyond stocks & crypto | Anyone who wants to actually understand the language money speaks |
| IR / CFO / founders | People designing capital structures for startups and companies |
| Finance practitioners | Fluent in PF, SPC, STO, RCPS, DSCR — but never taught them as one structure |
| Serious asset owners | Investors who think about recovery before they think about return |
This isn't a plain finance-knowledge book. It's a strategic manual for reading finance as a design language.
Finally
I wrote this book to grow, even slightly, the number of people who can design "how money moves" — not just chase "how to make money." The starting point is leaving the numbers behind. Turn your financial language into the language of structure.
